![]() ![]() She also loved her nieces and nephews and relished being called “Aunt Dette.” Vedette had a beautiful singing voice. Her grandson Zion was the light of her life. Afterward she was employed at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, UMBC -affectionately called “U Must Be Crazy” by Vedette - for 31 years until her health forced her to retire as a supervisor in the Registrar’s Office. After graduating from Edmondson, Vedette’s first job was at the Sun Life Insurance Company of America. She was an active member of Electra Chapter #1 and earned the authority of Matron. As an adult she was a member of the Prince Hall Order of The Eastern Star. As a child, Vedette was a member of the International Fraternal Order of Odd Fellows. She was educated in the public schools of Baltimore City and was a 1968 graduate of Edmondson High School. Vedette was the eldest of the three children of James Alexander Hull, Sr and Helena Lillian Cornish Hull. She peacefully entered into Eternal Rest on Monday, February 17, 2020, at the Pleasant Gardens Assisted Living Facility in Baltimore, Maryland where she had been in hospice care.
